Vita

Alma Barner is a visiting researcher with a focus on medical ethics. She obtained a PhD in philosophy from ANU. Before coming to ZEPP she held postdoctoral research positions at the Paris Lodron University of Salzburg and the University of Antwerp, Belgium.

Research at the ZEPP

At ZEPP, Alma Barner is pursuing research on epistemic injustice in healthcare, ethical issues in medical AI and questions arising at the intersection between political philosophy, medical ethics and public health.

As her background lies in philosophy of mind and more specifically imagination, she has a further interest in the roles that perspective-taking can play in patient-doctor relationships.

Her next upcoming publication concerns the question whether a right can discriminate against the holders of the right in the context of right-to-die laws.
