Vita

Andrea Berber is a research associate at the Institute of Philosophy of the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Belgrade. She received her PhD from the University of Belgrade in 2019. Her current research interests are the philosophy of artificial intelligence, applied ethics, and applied epistemology. Specifically, she is working on ethical and epistemological issues surrounding the usage of opaque machine learning algorithms in various fields of human practice, i.e., science, healthcare, human resources, and legal systems. The results of her research were published in journals such as AI & Society, Minds & Machines, and the Journal of Value Inquiry.

Research at the ZEPP

At the ZEPP, Andrea Berber will focus on the intersections between moral and epistemic aspects of using machine learning algorithms for decision-making. Specifically, she will investigate the prospects of using algorithmic decision-making for moral and cognitive enhancement.
