Workshop: The Value of Intimate Relationships

Time: Friday, May 9, 2025

Location: Room 024 (LMU room finder), Ludwigstraße 28, 80539 Munich

Love relationships have a special value. Romantic love between two partners, in particular, is one of the things that give meaning to human life.“ Views such as these are widespread in our love-loving culture. But what does the reality of love look like? Isn't there such a thing as too much amorous affection? Doesn't love also lead to rivalry and jealousy? And what happens normatively when love fades? We will discuss these and other questions regarding intimate relationships at our workshop. We will also discuss a view from cultures, where romantic love has been viewed much more skeptically.
